Example: A manufacturer of moulded parts was considering purchasing an interferometer to check tooling.

The Solution: After analysing the requirement it became clear that the interferometer was over-sensitive for the main measurement task and would only be able to measure about 50% of the product range.
An alternative surface measurement tool was identified based on a Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor. This option was lower cost and able to measure all parts to the required accuracy.
